About the Programs

Early Medical Education Mentoring Programs
Cleveland Clinic has a strong commitment to medical education and research. We believe that as an integral member of the community, it is important to offer students the opportunity to become familiar with different careers in medicine and the path to achieve them. The Early Medical Education Mentoring Programs at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital are designed to introduce students to the many career opportunities available in the field of medicine, including both the hospital and clinic settings. The goals of these programs include introducing students to clinical medicine; fostering students’ interest in the field of medicine through mentorship; and raising awareness about the daily tasks and responsibilities of a physician, offering real-world hospital experience.

Summer Scholars Program
Summer Scholars Program is a free educational program that provides a unique shadowing experience for rising high school seniors. Participants have direct interaction with staff physicians and have a chance to ask questions and to explore different work environments. The Summer Scholars Program has grown over the past 20 years from six students to over 120 students each summer.

High School Pathways Program
A more recently established early medical education program, the Highschool Pathways Program offers year-round educational opportunities to students at select schools in Broward County. Highschool Pathways is available for students in grade nine through twelve and provides longitudinal mentorship to students who would not otherwise have exposure to the field of hospital and clinical medicine.
